The Three P’s and Project Management
Sustainability is more than an environmental conversation—it’s a strategic imperative that shapes how organizations thrive. On April 22, join Mark Lewis, PMI Durham Highlands Member and Volunteer, for an engaging exploration of the three P’s of sustainability: People, Profit, and Planet.
Project managers sit at the intersection of all three. While many think “sustainability” begins and ends with the environment, long-term success depends just as much on sustainable teams and sustainable business models. This session reframes sustainability as a holistic practice that strengthens project outcomes, organizational resilience, and community impact.
We’ll explore:
Looking beyond the environment to understand sustainability as a balanced system of human, financial, and ecological well‑being
What sustainable profit really means, and how PMs can influence value creation without burnout or short-termism
How to sustain people, including teams, stakeholders, and communities, through ethical practices and healthy project cultures
The project manager’s role in embedding sustainability into decisions, processes, and project delivery
Participants will leave with practical insights and actionable strategies to integrate the three P’s into everyday project work—no matter the industry or project size.
