SPOTLIGHT ON HOPE OGBEBOR, PMP®

Title & Organization: Project Coordinator, Percon Construction Inc.
Years in Project Management: 10+
PMI Membership Level / Certifications: PMP
Current Focus / Specialty Area: Construction Project Management.

  • What first inspired you to pursue a career in project management?
My initial interest in project management was sparked early in my internship, where I observed how the various aspects of a project are interconnected.
This experience, combined with my background in Civil Engineering, fueled my eagerness to further explore and develop my skills in project management.

  • What does a “successful project” mean to you personally?
For me, a successful project is one that is delivered safely, with zero LTI or LFI. No project is too important to take a life.

  • What is the most challenging project you’ve ever managed and why?
I once managed a project initiated to satisfy a regulatory requirement.
However, the project was fundamentally compromised at the planning stage due to an incorrect site selection.
The chosen location was a brownfield site requiring integration with an existing structure, yet there was no as-built documentation, record drawings, or verified site data available. Key design and construction decisions were therefore made based largely on assumptions rather than validated information.

  • If you weren’t in project management, what career would you choose?
A Teacher, a Farmer, or a Preacher, each called to sow, nurture, and shape lives in different ways.

  • What book, podcast, or resource has had a big impact on you?
The Holy Bible has profoundly shaped my life and perspective, leaving the most significant impact on who I am today.
